Six months ago, we were facing impossible circumstances. My husband said, “This is our Red Sea Moment. It looks like there’s no where to go, but when God makes a way for us, we’ll know it was Him. Years from now you’ll tell this story of how God came through for us”.
He never imagined that six months and thousands of miles later, our journey really would bring us to the shore of the Red Sea. We’ve been going wherever God led us. And we’ve been sensing that we should stay in Israel after our three month tourist visas expire on Jan.1st, so we needed to request an extension. When we ended up in Eilat, it seemed like the perfect set up.
Eilat is Israel’s only city on the Red Sea. It’s also home to an office that handles visa extensions. We’d been told it was one of the best places to apply, but that they were still very unlikely to grant an extension. In order to obey God, we needed him to act on our behalf. So this really was our Red Sea Moment.
When we need God to provide something, we have to believe he will. So we weren’t prepared for what happened:
nothing. Our application was denied. They gave us no options.
I’m numb with grief, and days away from being forced to leave my native country. If we stay, they won’t deport us, but we could be fined and/or denied entry in the future. And it would damage our future efforts to immigrate here.
There is no happy ending…yet…and no moral to the story.
But I know we’re not alone, so we’d love to hear from you in the comments below. Describe your “Red Sea Moment”: How did God come through for you in impossible circumstances?
