We were immersed in a sea of families feasting, laughing, and basking in the sun-drenched French countryside. From our picnic blanket, we saw more families canoeing, rappelling the cliff face, and strolling arm in arm.
And it made me sick. We’d been in France long enough to know most had never heard the Gospel of the Kingdom. Probably not one had taken time to thank the Author of all that beauty. Seeing them worship (delight in, pay attention to) the river, the rocks, and the sunshine, made me want to call out to them “There’s more!”.
I didn’t.
But something was born in me that day. A vision of families outside, reacquainting themselves with the first things God called “good”.
A way to have a great conversations, and meet with God in a powerful way (without getting a babysitter).
A way for every member of the family to see God in each other, and enjoy their inheritance.
That’s why I started this blog. My mission is to equip family members to listen to God and to each other. I emphasize becoming emotionally whole because it’s vital to becoming family. And I study Biblical language and culture, because it illuminates these principles:
“Listen to me. Point your kids to me as you walk with them.”
So what does this have to do with your summer? By now, I’m guessing you’ve exhausted your go-to tactics for handling “I’m bored”. Or maybe summer’s speeding by, and you want to bring all the craziness into focus.
That vision I had years ago in France became Faith Quests. Every Quest is a recipe for fun, God-centered outdoor family time. Each has a different theme (like rocks, stars, water, and wind). Each one includes activities that help you experience Biblical truth with your five senses. They work for a wide range of ages, and you can spend as much or as little time as you want on each Quest.
Here’s one mom’s feedback:
To download a free Quest, sign up below this post. (if you’re on my email list, access info is already in your inbox, no need to sign up again).
Let me know what you think, OK? And if if you know other families that would love this, send them over.
Godspeed!
